The Dinos attended the third annual Net Positive Energy and Water Conference on February 18th and 19rd in San Diego, California, hosted by the International Living Future Institute. Britt Carlson of A Community of Friends led Toward Net Zero Water in Affordable Housing, a panel discussion with Tara Barauskas of A Community of Friends, John Mimms of Community Corporation of Santa Monica, and Tim Kohut of Green Dinosaur, Inc. The conversation showed the many facets of attempting to reach Net Zero Water with unique jurisdictional challenges to greywater and rainwater re-use for irrigation, toilet flushing, and clothes washing. The discussion also centered on the retrofits of existing assets to meet aggressive water savings targets. The panelists shared successes and road blocks facing their projects, which underscored the need for the continued pursuit of permitted projects to continue evolving these projects from the exception to the norm.
