As part of the integrated design build team lead by PCL Construction & Steinberg Architects, Green Dinosaur wins the California State University, Fullerton’s Student Housing Phase III Design-Build competition. The project is targeting LEED-NC Gold Certification.

Buildings are one of the heaviest consumers of natural resources and account for a significant portion of the greenhouse gas emissions that affect climate change. In the U.S., buildings account for 39% of all CO2 emissions.



The LEED for New Construction rating system was first released in 2000. LEED for Homes was launched in December 2007. Every business day, $464 million worth of construction registers with LEED.

ENERGY MODELER [02/2009]

 
Position
 We are currently seeking an Energy Modeler/Green Building Consultant to provide energy modeling analysis including energy efficiency measure studies, building energy benchmarking, net-zero building solutions, utility incentive reports, and carbon emissions reporting, and LEED documentation on a variety of building projects including civic, residential, commercial, retail, K-12 & higher-education, and healthcare.

Specific Duties
    • Develop energy model from preliminary conceptual building plans that result in building bench marks meeting LEED EA credit 1 targets;
    • Update models upon subsequent design iterations from AE team;
    • Complete EA credit 1 documentation and template;
          - Research and analyze sustainable products and technology for existing building that lower building operational energy costs;
          - Analyze existing building systems and report on potential energy cost savings;
          - Performing calculations for LEED compliance for energy and indoor environmental quality credits for new and existing buildings.
          - Effectively communicating the LEED requirements and associated strategies to project owners and teams;
          - Write reports related to energy efficiency recommendations justified through energy modeling.
          - Complete Savings By Design Track A reports and Life Cycle Cost analysis to receive utility incentives;
          - Collaborate with AE teams for producing energy efficient designs;
    • Provide green building consulting services to support LEED and other green building projects.

Desired Experience
    • High level of knowledge of IES VE, Equest, Energy Pro, and other energy analysis tools;
    • LEED AP required and detailed knowledge of completion of EA credit 1;
    • Specialized project experience with implementing the integrated design process;
    • +4 years experience in energy efficient AE designs with detailed knowledge of building envelopes, renewable energy systems, and high performance MEP systems and controls.
    • Cooperative people skills to facilitate working with colleagues and clients;
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute numerous project responsibilities simultaneously;
    • Degree in engineering, or related field;
    • Experience with Owner's, Engineer's, and Contractor's organizations a plus;
    • Hands-on experience with building control systems and HVAC components a plus;
    • Lighting and lighting controls experience a plus;
    • Experience communicating technical ideas to non-technical audiences a plus;
    • PE license, Certified Energy Plans Examiner T-24 2008, and CEM certification are all pluses;
    • High level of computer proficiency required (Excel, Word, etc.);
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills required.

COMMISSIONING PROJECT ENGINEER [02/2009]
 
Position
 We are currently seeking a Commissioning Agent to provide commissioning services on a variety of building projects including civic, residential, commercial, retail, K-12 & higher-education, and healthcare.

Specific Duties
    • Provide commissioning services for new and existing buildings;
    • Lead and facilitate commissioning services on multiple projects at one time;
    • Participate in design reviews of mechanical and electrical plans, and specifications;
    • Develop project specific commissioning plans;
    • Create prefunctional checklist for contractors;
    • Create functional performance tests and lead tests with contractors;
    • Document all commissioning activities and communicate results to building owners;
    • Perform jobsite observations and field testing;
    • Write commissioning reports;
    • Duties include commissioning plan development and execution as well as field work;
    • Assist in energy efficiency projects;
    • Provide green building consulting services to support LEED and other green building projects.

Desired Experience
    • Specialized experience and technical expertise in building commissioning;
    • +4 years experience (including hands-on) in Mechanical Engineering for buildings;
    • Strong understanding of commercial buildings, MEP systems, and building controls;
    • Cooperative people skills to facilitate working with colleagues and clients;
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute numerous project responsibilities simultaneously;
    • Degree in engineering, or related field;
